WebTrends

In order to develop our website in line with customer needs HSBC is working with WebTrends to track usage on our website. Webtrends provide HSBC with statistics to show us which pages on our website are visited most frequently and how long visitors spend on our website. We use this information to help us plan how we should improve the website. WebTrends uses a cookie to track the number of unique users of the site. It basically tells us whether we have a small number of regular visitors to the website or a large number of infrequent visitors. None of the information can be traced to an individual - we do not know who you are as a unique user, merely that there are a certain number of people using the website. The cookie only relates to what goes on in the HSBC website and the information cannot be used for marketing on an individual basis.

Privacy Statement of The Bank

To preserve the confidentiality of all information that the Customer provides to the Bank, the Bank has adopted the following privacy principles:

  1. The Bank only collects information that the Bank considers to be relevant and required to understand the Customer's financial needs and to conduct the Bank's business.
  2. The Customer's information to provide him/her with better Customer services and products.
  3. The Customer expressly consents to the transmission of the Customer's information to other companies of the HSBC Group or its agents, or interbank transaction systems or other banks with which the Bank co-operates for the usage of their ATM networks. The Bank will announce the names of the above banks to the Customer in writing.
  4. The Bank will not disclose the Customer's information to any external organisation unless the Bank has the Customer's consent or is required by law or has previously informed the Customer.
  5. The Bank may be required from time to time to disclose the Customer's information to Governmental or judicial bodies or agencies or to its regulators, but the Bank will only do so if such authorities act lawfully.
  6. The Bank will ensure the Customer's information is kept up-to-date, especially following notification of the Customer for any change of particulars, to which (notification) the Customer must proceed in the context of his/ her transactions with the Bank.
  7. The Bank maintains strict security systems designed to prevent unauthorised access to the Customer's information by anyone, including the Bank's staff.
  8. All Group companies, all the Bank's staff and all third parties with permitted access to the Customer's information are specifically required to observe the Bank's confidentiality obligations.

By maintaining its commitment to these principles, HSBC BANK PLC ensures that it respects the inherent trust that the Customer places in it.

Data Protection

The Customer acknowledges that the Bank maintains and processes personal data subject to the provision of Law 2472/1997 concerning "protection of the individual with regard to the processing of personal data". The Customer has the right of access to such data and subject to the provisions of clause 14, the Bank may maintain and use this information unless specific written objections to the contrary are received from the Customer, as provided in article 13 of above law.
