a. Select the currency in which the payment will be remitted
b. In the Amount field choose from the following drop down options:
If you select "Same as from account" option, the amount you have keyed in will be in the same currency as the selected account to be debited ("From account" field)
E.g. Your account to be debited is in Euro and your payment is in Great Britain Pounds You have keyed in an amount of 1.000. Selecting the currency to be the "Same as from account" means you want EUR 1.000 to be paid in the Beneficiary's Great Britain Pounds account. We will convert the EUR 1.000 to GBP 916 to make the payment in this currency (GBP rate of 1,09 used). Since the payment is effected in GBP a charge of EUR 10 (GBP 9,20) will be collected at our end and deducted from the GBP 916 when the beneficiary holds an account with a non-HSBC branch.
I pay ALL Charges, beneficiary pays NO charges (OUR)
Charge Amount of EUR 10 is deducted from the EUR 1.000 debited from your account. Beneficiary Bank Charge is then claimed at a later stage from your account in HSBC Greece once the Beneficiary Bank submits the claim for charges (i.e. Beneficiary receives GBP 906,80 without any other charges from Beneficiary Bank {GBP 916 less our charge of GBP 9,20})
I pay HSBC Greece charges, beneficiary pays other bank charges (SHA)
Charge Amount of EUR10 is deducted from the EUR 1.000 debited from your account (i.e. Beneficiary receives GBP 906,80 minus the beneficiary bank’s charges {GBP 916 minus our charge of GBP 9,20})
I pay No charges, beneficiary pays ALL charges (BEN)
Charge Amount is deducted from the EUR 1.000 debited to your account (i.e. Beneficiary receives GBP 906,80 minus the beneficiary bank's charges {GBP 916 minus our charge of GBP 9,20})
If you select "Same as to account" option, the amount keyed in will be in the same currency as the Beneficiary account.
E.g. using the same scenario as above, but selecting the currency to be the "Same as to account" means that you want GBP 1.000 to be transferred to the Beneficiary GBP account. We will convert GBP 1.000 to EUR 1.091 and deduct that amount from your EURO account and transfer GBP 1.000 to the Beneficiary. Since the payment is effected in GBP a charge of EUR 10 will be deducted additionally to the EUR 1.091 from your account when the beneficiary holds an account with a non-HSBC branch.
I pay ALL charges, beneficiary pays NO charges (OUR)
Charge Amount of EUR10 is deducted in addition to the EUR 1.091 debited from your account, the total amount debited is EUR 1.101. Beneficiary Bank Charge is then claimed at a later stage from your account in HSBC Greece once the Beneficiary Bank submits the claim for charges (i.e. Beneficiary receives GBP 1.000 without any other charges from Beneficiary Bank).
I pay HSBC Greece charges, beneficiary pays other bank charges (SHA)
Charge Amount of EUR 10 is deducted in addition to the EUR 1.091 and debited from your account, total amount debited to read is EUR 1.101 (i.e. Beneficiary receives GBP 1.000 minus the beneficiary bank’s charges).
I pay No charges, beneficiary pays ALL charges (BEN)
Since you specified that you wish to forward the amount of GBP 1.000 to the beneficiary, the amount debited from your account is EUR 1091. The Beneficiary receives GBP 990,80 minus the beneficiary bank’s charges (GBP 1.000 less our charge of GBP 9,20).
