HSBC will never ask you in any way (by telephone or e-mail) for your security codes for the Internet Banking service. These codes are personal and must never be disclosed to anyone.
Select security codes (username, secret answer) that are different to the codes used for social networking websites or e-mail accounts (Facebook, gmail, etc.). Keep your passwords separate from the Token device.
Do not respond and do not click on any links provided in e-mail messages that appear to be sent by HSBC, asking you to enter personal data, bank account / card numbers or Internet Banking codes. They are sent by persons attempting to steal your codes and gain access to your accounts. Forward such e-mail messages to the Bank at the address personal.banking-gr@hsbc.com and then delete them from your e-mail account.
Use the HSBC Internet Banking service only by logging on to the HSBC website (www.hsbc.gr) and never via links appearing on other websites, search engines or e-mail messages. Always ensure you are using secure web pages when entering confidential personal data. The URL address of secure web pages begins with https instead of http.
It is important that you follow the correct procedure when logging on and off the Internet Banking service. To log off from the system select "Disconnect" instead of closing the browser window by clicking on the X button.
If you notice anything unusual when logging on to the Internet Banking service, such as unusual messages encouraging you to wait or re-enter your codes, do not respond. Call our Phone Banking service (801 801 4722 or 210 696 2000), as your PC has probably been infected with viruses or other malicious software.
Update your PC with the latest versions and security patches of the operating system and internet navigation software (i.e. Windows, Internet Explorer, Firefox). Protect your PC by installing "Antivirus", "Firewall" and "Anti-Spyware" protection.
Run regular scans on your PC against possible viruses and spyware software using the latest versions / updates of the protection software installed on your PC.
Avoid using PCs in public areas or PCs belonging to third parties (i.e. internet cafes, airports, etc.). Your codes are more likely to be physically or electronically stolen in an environment that is not under your complete control.
