Logon Activation Procedure

Setting up your Security Device - One-time procedure

The new Internet Banking Service by HSBC is now, literally, at the tip of your fingers. HSBC's global experience and know-how, teamed up with the latest in technology in order to evaluate views and satisfy the needs of millions of customers around the world. You can now conduct banking transactions on your computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Fast, easy and with the safety only cutting edge technology can offer.

Activating the Additional Security Code Device (Token)
Entering HSBC's Internet Banking Service is fast and safe. In order to complete your connection to the Internet Banking Service, the enclosed Security Code Device (Token) is needed every time you log in.

Step 1:
Log on to Internet Banking

  • Go to the Internet Banking log on page by clicking on 'Log on' at the top right corner.
  • Type in your username.
  • Click 'Log on' to proceed.

Step 2:
Log on

  • Type in your memorable answer.
  • Click 'Continue'.

Step 3:
Security Device activation setup

  • A message under the heading 'Token Activation Setup' appears in order to complete the procedure. Click on the 'Yes' button.
  • Type in the serial number found on the back of the Security Device. This number is to be typed WITHOUT the dash signs (minuses).
    Example: 11-2233445-6 should be input as 1122334456.
    Serial Number
  • Press the red button on the Security Device.
  • The Security Device will display a 6 - digit security code.
    Security Code
  • Input this number in the Security Code field.
  • Click 'Continue'.

If you have not received the Security Device or if the Device is lost, faulty or stolen, please contact our Customer Service helpline at 801 801 HSBC (801 801 4722) or at 210 696 2000 if you are calling from a mobile phone.

Step 4:
Set up Security Questions for Memorable answer recovery- in case you forget it.
Should you forget the Memorable answer in the future when logging on to Internet Banking, there is a procedure through which, by answering two questions, the forgotten memorable answer can be reset. These two questions may be setup at this stage.

  • Click 'Yes' to proceed with setting up these questions.
  • If you select 'No' you will skip the next step. However you will be prompted with the same screen the next time you log on.

Step 5:
Online Memorable Answer reset

  • Choose the security questions 1 and 2 from the list.
  • For each question, type and confirm the answer.
  • Click 'Continue' to proceed.

Tip:Select familiar but not common answers to the questions. Always ensure you remember these 2 questions and answers as they will be required when you call our Customer Service Helpline on Internet Banking.

Your Internet Banking Logon after activating the Token

  1. Please type in your username.
  2. A screen will appear on logon
  3. Type in your Memorable answer.
  4. Press the red button on the Security Device.
  5. The Security Device will display a 6 - digit security code.
  6. Type this number in the Security Code field.
  7. Click 'Continue' to access HSBC Internet Banking.

Taking Care of your HSBC Internet Banking security device

  • Ensure you keep the Security Device safe and handy.
  • Keep the device away from liquid substances or extreme heat sources.
  • The device is light and portable and may be attached via a strap to objects such as home or car keys.
  • In case of device malfunction, please contact Customer Service Helpline on the numbers shown at the end of this page.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Remember: HSBC never sends information on renewal and updating of usernames and passwords via e-mail.

If you receive an e - mail message which you believe to be fraudulent:

  1. Do not respond to the e-mail.
  2. Forward the e-mail to: internetbanking@service.hsbc.gr.
  3. Delete the e - mail.
