More

Cash Account
Through a Cash Account you may trade, provided that there is sufficient cash balances to cover the value of the transaction.
In the event you are exceptionally allowed to trade from your Cash Account  when orders exceed your credit balance, the following will apply :

  • Balance should be paid in full at T+3 the latest
  • In case the balance is not paid in full at T+3, forced liquidation will take place at T+4 and part or the entire of your portfolio will be sold at market prices to cover the overdue debit balance of your account.

If you wish to trade above your cash balance the 3 Day Credit Account or the Margin Account may be suitable for you. These accounts are governed by specific rules and limitations and a separate agreement must be signed.

Credit Account Τ+3 (3D Account)

By opening a 3 Day Credit Account, you must be aware that :

  • Any debit balance should be settled at T+3 the latest (T= trade date) in cash or by selling stocks.
  • Equity should be equal or higher than 45% of the value of the portfolio (equity = value of the portfolio less borrowed funds)
  • At T+4 the company will liquidate part or the entire portfolio at market prices to settle any overdue balance
  • A policy for proper diversification of equities is applied
  • Not all equities are eligible for trading
  • The client must apply for credit.
  • There are credit limitations
  • Interest is charged to debit balances
  • You must sign separate terms of business.

We must inform you that for systematic users, the 3 Day Credit Account entails a very high risk of loss of capital and HSBC Securities S.A.  does not support the frequent transactions from such accounts.

Margin

Margin Account
In the event you will select to open a Margin Account, you must be aware that buying securities with borrowed funds can be extremely risky as  both gains and losses are amplified. There are chances for both substantial gains and losses. Additionally you must consider the cost of  interest which  should be paid for the use of borrowed funds.
The client should deposit an Initial Margin in the form of cash or equities and can borrow funds from the Company to buy additional stocks. Our margin policy requires a diversified margin portfolio.
Specific terms about the Margin Account and examples of how this account works, may be provided upon request.
Both the "3 Day Credit Account" and the "Margin Account" are not suitable for all clients . Clients should be aware of the risks associated with these accounts.

Short Selling (the sale of securities not owned by the client) is not allowed in any of the accounts except under the procedures established by the Greek regulatory framework.
