Announcement

The authorities in Greece have declared a bank holiday from 28 June to 13 July.

Like all banks, HSBC has been working to prepare for such events and to take the necessary steps to meet relevant requirements.

Currently, during the bank holiday period (until July 13th inclusive) no banking payments and transactions are allowed.

Some of the key exceptions are:

  • Cash withdrawals through debit and credit cards from ATMs in Greece of up to €60 (sixty Euros) per card, per day.
  • Cash withdrawals only through debit cards from ATMs outside Greece up to €60 (sixty Euros) per card, per day.
  • Payments through credit / debit cards within Greece.
  • HSBC Greece credit and debit card payments made outside Greece are permitted up to a limited total HSBC Greece amount prescribed by the Greek Authorities. Customers should therefore only use HSBC Greece credit and debit cards outside Greece to make emergency payments, for example, to make a payment to a hotel in a country outside Greece, to purchase air tickets to return to Greece or to pay medical bills outside Greece. It will not be possible to use HSBC Greece credit or debit cards outside Greece to make payments over the internet or telephone.
  • Cash withdrawals from ATMs using cards issued outside Greece are currently permitted with no restrictions or limits.
  • Payments from HSBC Greece accounts to accounts held in other Banks in Greece through Phone Banking or Internet / Mobile Banking are permitted with no restrictions or limits besides those applied prior to the bank holiday.
  • Payments from accounts held outside Greece to accounts held in Greece are permitted with no restrictions or limits.
Branch openings

Please be informed that our branches at Neo Psychico, Faliro and Thessaloniki will be open:

  • to issue/re-issue credit and debit cards for HSBC customers
  • to register customers for Phone Banking and Internet Banking
  • to serve pensioner customers who have no cash withdrawal card (credit or debit).

Our branches at Neo Psychico (18 D. Vasileiou St. & Kodrou) and Paleo Faliro (7 Ag. Alexandrou St.) will be open on Thursday 09/07/2015, Friday 10/07/2015 and Monday 13/07/2015 (working hours: 09:00-14:30).

Our branch at Thessaloniki (8 Tsimiski St.) will be open during the same days (working hours: 09.00-12.00).
