This document sets out the Privacy Statement terms of (the ’Site’). This Site is operated by HSBC France, Athens Branch, which is owned by HSBC Holdings plc. By accessing this Site, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms and the Terms of Use of the Site. HSBC's business has been built on trust between us and our customers. To preserve the confidentiality of all information provided to us:

We will strike an appropriate balance to ensure that we process sufficient data to carry on our business and achieve any specified lawful purposes, while making sure that we do not collect, retain or process excessive amounts of data.
  5. Data quality and accuracy: We will maintain appropriate standards of data quality and integrity, and we will implement policies in respect of data accuracy, including taking steps to avoid data becoming out of date where appropriate.
  6. Data security and retention: We will retain data securely, implement appropriate data retention policies, and we will dispose of data securely once it is no longer required. We will ensure that appropriate processes are put in place so only HSBC colleagues with a business requirement to access such data are authorised and able to do so.
  7. Training and awareness: We will ensure that HSBC colleagues with access to data are trained appropriately on their obligations regarding those data.
  8. Data subject rights: We will ensure that data subjects’ rights are observed in accordance with applicable Data Privacy Laws and Regulations, including any timeline established thereby.
  9. Third parties: Where we appoint a vendor or agent, we will require them to apply standards equivalent to the HSBC Data Privacy Principles. We will only disclose data to governmental or judicial bodies or law enforcement or agencies or our regulators where this is allowed by applicable Data Privacy Laws and Regulations, or otherwise required by applicable laws and regulations.
  10. Data transfers: Where we voluntarily transfer data to another HSBC entity, third party or to another jurisdiction, we will ensure that the data transfer is lawful and that the recipient is required to apply the same, or equivalent, standards as the HSBC Data Privacy Principles.

In order to develop our website in line with customer needs HSBC is working with Webtrends to track usage on our website. Webtrends provide HSBC with statistics to show us which pages on our website are visited most frequently and how long visitors spend on our website. We use this information to help us plan how we should improve the website. Webtrends uses a cookie to track the number of unique users of the site. It basically tells us whether we have a small number of regular visitors to the website or a large number of infrequent visitors. None of the information can be traced to an individual - we do not know who you are as a unique user, merely that there are a certain number of people using the website. The cookie only relates to what goes on in the HSBC website and the information cannot be used for marketing on an individual basis.

Data Protection

The management and protection of the data protection of this Site’s user is governed by the provisions of the current legislation, local and of the European Union, in respect to the data protection, the decisions of the Data Protection Authority and these terms.

The Bank shall process any data the Site’s user provides. The data processing from the part of the Bank shall be performed for reasons of communication, statistics or historical, for supporting any application and improving the offered services as well as for any of the purposes mentioned in the Bank’s Terms and Conditions and especially in clauses on Privacy Statement – Confidentiality – Data Protection – Customer Consent and Collection and use of Customer Information, Financial Crime Risk Management Activity, ” as in force.

TTo this end, the Site’s user provides his/her consent for the above purposes and in all cases for any of the processing purposes in the Bank’s Terms and Conditions and especially in clauses on Privacy Statement – Confidentiality – Data Protection – Customer Consent and Collection and use of Customer Information, Financial Crime Risk Management Activity, by only accessing and using the Site and since he/she does not object, in writing, to any of the Bank’s branches or to the HSBC Phone Banking service, in respect to the data processing by the Bank and/or the associated entities or/and third parties data recipients mentioned in clauses on Privacy Statement – Confidentiality – Data Protection – Customer Consent and Collection and use of Customer Information, Financial Crime Risk Management Activity, , the latter being available and easily accessed at the Site.

Any individual to which the data relate has, in all cases, at any time, the right of access in accordance with article 12 of law 2472/1997 and the right to object in accordance with article 13 of law 2472/1997 on their process.

Whereas the above policy is subject to change, all interested parties must be regularly informed of its content in combination with the Terms of use and the Cookies policy before they use this site, whose use is tantamount to the acceptance, consentand agreement of the specific terms.
